GM EN-V Concept Jiao's Joyride
Remember the GM EN-V Concept? It’s that urban mobility concept produced by General Motors of China and its strategic partner, Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. Group. Urban mobility concepts are huge on the other side of the world and studies show that by 2030, urban areas will be home to more than 60 percent of the world’s 8 billion people (forecasted number). With China’s population currently around 1,324,655,000, we don’t think it’s a bad concept to explore.
Either way, the GM EN-V Concept has been hanging out at World Expo 2010 Shanghai since it opened in May but GM decided to take the vehicle out for a little 10-minute joy ride down Shanghai’s fashionable Huaihai Road.
“Three EN-V models are on display at the SAIC-GM Pavilion,” GM said. “They represent three different characteristics that emphasize the enjoyable nature of future transportation: Jiao (Pride), Miao (Magic) and Xiao (Laugh). It was Jiao that took the streets, escorted by local police.”
Power for the GM EN-V Concept comes from electric-motors with two driving-mode wheels. Fueled by a set of lithium-ion batteries, the EN-V can travel around 25 miles on a full charge. Read more...
